Nestled on Chicago’s iconic Rush Street, Mansion on Rush is an intimate restaurant, bar, and Champagne Lounge that accents its experience with Pan Asian cuisine with a Latin flair.  This restaurant has been a labor of love for our team. The dream for this concept began more than five years ago and finally came to fruition after a tireless search for the perfect venue and the setbacks of the pandemic. 


Guests should prepare themselves to indulge in an experience of the senses with global music, plush velvet seating, sleek marble counters and tables, impressive herringbone marble and gold mosaic glass tile, crystal chandeliers, and of course, the finest quality sushi, seafood, & steak. The menu will satisfy the most discerning palate and the atmosphere will tantalize the senses.  

Executive Sushi Chef Christopher Traynor leads his team creating vibrant sushi, sashimi, and colorful rolls that will be sure to impress our guests. Chef Traynor has over 18 years in the restaurant industry and has been serving in leadership roles serving as Executive Chef at PL8 in the Northern Suburbs before joining Mansion on Rush.

The Champagne Lounge provides an intimate setting for a light bite or an after-hours nibble. With an offering of an exclusive Caviar collection and first-in-class bubbly, the Champagne Lounge is sure to become a desirable hot spot in the city. 

General Manager and Beverage Director Ryan Johnson, a long time Restauranteur in Chicago, Ryan has been instrumental in bringing Mansion on Rush to life. Ryan spent countless hours designing the restaurant and curating a wine and spirits menu that they are proud to offer our community. Ryan has been a restaurant owner, manager and consultant for over 15 years. Ryan believes in elevating the dining experience and building relationships that have contributed to his success and valuable skills he will bring to Mansion.

We are grateful to our team, vendors, builders, mentors, and advisors for the intense commitment everyone has invested in the dream of Mansion on Rush. Without your talents and passion, this would still only be a dream.

We at Mansion on Rush want everyone to enjoy their own unique dining experience. Our food, wine, cocktails and ambiance are all designed to engage, excite and entice all our guests. With that said these tailored experiences are not ideal for younger guests. We hope to see you soon.

Ryan Johnson

Ryan Johnson

General Manager & Beverage Director

With over two decades of experience working in both the Kitchen and front of the house, Ryan Johnson currently serves as the General Manager and Beverage Director for Mansion on Rush.

Ryan has worked as General Manager and Partner with D’Agostino’s Italian restaurants for 8 years in Chicago. He then became Beverage Director and General Manager for King Shabu Shabu in Riverwoods, IL for 3 years before moving back to Chicago where he gained management experience
with Chicago Restaurant Group, Shoyu Hospitality at Ramen Wasabi. Ryan joined Ironside Bar and Grill in River North in 2019 before their closure in 2020. As the Beverage manager for Ramen Wasabi his cocktails were featured in multiple publications for his creativity and use of unique
spirits. In December of 2020 he joined the team at Mansion on Rush to serve as General Manager of Operations.

Hospitality is and continues to be Ryan’s life-long passion. He encourages others interested in pursuing a career in the hospitality industry through building relationships and elevating experiences through exceptional service. The industry, demanding as it is, takes a unique, passionate individual who loves the crazy and intense atmosphere to thrive.

Ryan studied at the City Colleges of Chicago then at North Park University where he continued his studies in Political Science and Economics. He continued studies in wine, beer, and Spirits to increase his knowledge to serve him in his various roles.

Ryan currently resides in Riverside, Illinois. In his free time, he enjoys discovering unique culinary experiences, visiting local distilleries and breweries, live music, golfing and traveling with his fiancé.

Executive Sushi Chef

With a passion for Japanese food, Executive Sushi Chef Chris Traynor is bringing traditional Japanese cuisine to Mansion on Rush with a subtle blend of Latin fusion. 

Growing up in Naperville, IL, Chris spent a lot of time with his grandparents who lived near Mitsuwa Marketplace in Chicago. Between regular visits to the market, dining out at Japanese restaurants often, and helping his grandmother in the kitchen, Chris developed a passion for food and traditional Japanese cuisine. 

Chris attended culinary school at the College of DuPage before starting his career at domo77 in Aurora. He held various positions within in the industry including Sushi Kushi in Vernon Hills where he experienced very traditional-style Japanese food with a touch of fusion. Most recently, he held the title of executive chef at Pl8 in Barrington where he was able to start putting his own personal spin on Japanese cuisine.

 As executive sushi chef for Mansion on Rush, Chris is responsible for managing all the cold items, oysters and raw bar, and Caviar. He has developed a menu that blends notes of Latin flavors into Japanese culture for a truly exceptional dining experience unique to Mansion on Rush. 

An admirer of traditional Japanese cuisine and the culinary industry, Chris is always watching to see what people are doing in the business. He prefers to stay as traditional as possible to Japanese food while giving it a touch of his own flare. 

Chris lives in Cary, IL with his wife and son. When he’s not working, he enjoys trying new restaurants and breweries, working on cars, building racecars, and spending time with his 15- month-old son.
